TITLE TAG TIPS:

Number of characters:

The optimal length of a TITLE tag is 50-60 characters. Google displays up to 60 characters in search results. Ensure that the most important information is within the first 60 characters.


Keywords:

Use the main keywords for the page in the TITLE tag. Place the keywords as close to the beginning of the TITLE tag as possible. Avoid using too many keywords in the TITLE tag.


Relevance:

The TITLE tag should be relevant to the content of the page. Avoid using misleading or clickbait-like TITLE tags. Ensure that the TITLE tag accurately describes the content of the page.

You can set your TITLE tag in Wix in two different ways:


Via the Wix Editor:

  • Open the Wix Editor.

  • Click on the page where you want to set the TITLE tag.

  • Click on the SEO icon in the menu bar.

  • Enter the TITLE tag in the Title Tag (title in search results) field.


Via the Wix SEO Wiz:

  • Go to the Wix Dashboard.

  • Click on Marketing & SEO.

  • Click on SEO.

  • Click on SEO Setup Checklist.

Length of a Meta Description:

The ideal length of a META description is 155-160 characters. Google typically displays up to 160 characters in search results. Ensure that the most important information is within the first 160 characters.


Keywords:

Use relevant keywords in the META description, but avoid overdoing it. Place the keywords as naturally as possible within the text.


Relevance:

The META description should be relevant to the content of the page. Avoid using misleading or clickbait-like descriptions. Ensure that the META description gives visitors an accurate impression of what they can find on the page.

  1. Open the Wix Editor.

  2. Click on the page where you want to set the META description and click on the 3 dots.

  3. Click on the BASIC SEO icon in the menu bar.

  4. Enter the META description in the Meta Description (description in search results) field.


Via the Wix SEO Wiz:

  1. Go to the Wix Dashboard.

  2. Click on Marketing & SEO.

  3. Click on SEO.

  4. Click on SEO Setup Checklist.

Alt text ensures that people with visual impairments can understand the content of images. Screen readers read the alt text aloud, allowing blind and visually impaired individuals to benefit from the information on your website.


SEO:

Search engines like Google use alt text to understand what an image is about. Relevant alt text can improve the visibility of your website in search results.


User experience:

Alt text can enhance the user experience by providing additional context about images. This is especially useful when images are unclear or when the context of the image is important.


Tips for writing good alt text:

Descriptive:

he alt text should clearly and concisely describe the image. Avoid unnecessary details or jargon.


Relevant:

Use relevant keywords in the alt text, but don't overdo it. Concrete: Include specific details about the image, such as the location, depicted people or objects, and the action taking place.


Short and impactful:

Alt text should be no more than 125 characters long.

Navigation:

URLs enable navigation to different pages on a website.

SEO:

Search engines use URLs to understand what a web page is about and how it is structured.


Tips for optimizing URLs:

Short and concise:

Keep URLs short and succinct. Avoid long, unreadable URLs.

Use keywords:

Include relevant keywords in the URL. This helps search engines understand what the page is about.

Use hyphens:

Use hyphens (-) to separate words in the URL. Avoid underscores (_) and spaces.

Use lowercase:

Use lowercase letters in the URL.

Avoid stop words:

Avoid using stop words (e.g., "the", "of", "from") in the URL.

Be consistent:

Maintain a consistent structure for all URLs on your website.


To change URLs in Wix:

  1. Click on the page where you want to adjust the URL.

  2. Click on the page settings icon, the 3 dots

  3. Enter the desired URL in the 'URL' field. This field is found within the basic SEO settings.

  4. Once you've entered the desired URL, save the changes.

  5. Don't forget to publish your website to ensure that the new URL is live on your site.

Headers are important for the structure and readability of your website. They help you organize and categorize content, making it easier for visitors to scan and understand what the page is about. The different header levels:

The H1 tag is the most important header on the page. It should display the title of the page. Use only one H1 tag per page.

H2:

H2 tags are used for subheadings on the page. These tags are less important than the H1 tag but still crucial for the page's structure.

H3:

H3 tags are used for subheadings of subheadings. These tags are less important than the H1 and H2 tags but can still be useful for structuring the page.
